5 Ways to Celebrate Canada 150
As we prepare to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday as the true north strong and free, there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy this extra special Canada Day weekend.
Attend a Canada Day Parade
Whether you’re in a city or a town, you’re bound to be able to find a parade within a reasonable driving distance.
The vast majority of parades will be in the morning on Saturday, July 1, but there are a few places choosing to have parades in the evening of July 2nd, as a grand finale to a two-day celebration.
If you and your family love parades, there’s a great chance you’ll be able to enjoy at least one this Canada Day weekend.
Learn About Another Culture
A large contributor to what makes Canada such a great and strong country is its diversity.
Festivals, fairs and concerts are great places to find cultural displays celebrating the different heritages that make Canada so unique.
Enjoy the Outdoors
If you prefer a quiet, more relaxed Canada Day, you’re in luck! Canada is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes, lakes and sceneries in the world.
The Government of Canada was especially kind this year, offering all Canadians and visitors the chance to enjoy free admission to national parks, national historic sites and natural marine conservation areas (must be operated by Parks Canada).
If you already have your pass, this Canada Day weekend would be a great time to use it. For more information on the pass, including how to get one and where you can use it, click here.
BBQ with Family & Friends
The thing about BBQs is you can have them anywhere (fire codes permitting, depending on what you classify as a “BBQ”).
Enjoying a picnic in the park, relaxing in the yard or hanging out on the balcony are great ways to enjoy some good food and company.
Fireworks
Everyone, aside from dogs, loves a good firework show!
Along the lines of finding a parade, odds are there’s a firework show within a reasonable driving distance for you.
As a word of caution, leave the firework shows to the trained professionals.
Have a fun, safe, great #Canada150 this weekend!
